Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Tour to India Postponed Indefinitely

The Bangladesh Women’s cricket team’s fans will have to wait a bit longer. Their trip to India for white-ball matches, set for mid-December, is now on hold. A top official at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said that the tour isn’t happening as planned. The word came after getting a message from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Bangladesh was supposed to play three ODIs and three T20Is in India, according to the original plan. The ODI series would have kicked off a fresh ICC Women’s ODI Championship cycle for both teams. The team was planning to travel on December 14 or 15, making the tour a key chance to compete before a busy women’s cricket schedule.

The BCCI told the BCB they can’t host the series in December. The Indian women’s players will get a more extended break after winning their first Women’s World Cup. The board wants them to rest up before the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which needs a good amount of prep time.

Abdur Razzak, the head of BCB women’s wing, made it clear that the series isn’t happening right now, but it’s still on the cards for the future. He also mentioned that the tour can’t be canceled since it’s part of the Future Tours Programme (FTP) that both boards agreed to.

It’s not just this series that’s been affected recently. India’s men’s limited-overs trip to Bangladesh, first planned for August 2025, is now happening in September 2026. This shows how tough it is to schedule international cricket these days, especially since cricket boards are changing their schedules to fit big ICC tournaments and more franchise leagues.

For the Bangladesh Women’s team, the delay means they’ll have to wait longer for essential practice games and ranking points. India’s team can now take a breather after a big year and get ready for a packed Women’s Premier League season.

Both boards are expected to revisit the calendar soon to find a new window for the tour, ensuring that the series an essential part of the ODI Championship cycle goes ahead at a later date.

Both boards plan to look at the schedule again soon to find a new time for the tour. They want to make sure the series, which is essential for the ODI Championship, happens later.
